The 6^th sense refers to the connection with something greater than what our physical senses are able to perceive. Until few years ago, it was considered as something supernatural, i.e. beyond the domain of science or human understanding, a concept which could only be featured in sci-fci movies.But thanks to “6^th sense WUW” (Wear UR World)- a wearable gadget devised by Pranav Mistry, a P.hD. Scholar at MIT, 6^th sense has become a reality.

The 6^th sense WUW consists of :

• a pocket projector,

• a camera and

• a cellphone.

The projector is used to display the information about the object on any surface, the camera perceives the objects using computer vision based techniques. Both the projector and the camera are connected to the cellphone which acts like a computer and a hub for the information from the World Wide Web.

The true power of 6^th sense lies in connecting the real life circumstances almost immediately to

the internet which gives all the relevant information to the user and allows him to make smarter choices. It has an enormous field of applications, right from choosing a brand for your shoes to giving your flight details, 6^th sense may assist u in almost everything.

The WUW device is still it its developmental phase, once marketed it is expected to cost about 350$ i.e. almost same as today’s cellphone device. Also its software is already available as open source so one can actually build their own 6^th sense device!

The 6^th sense technology has the power to connect the real world to the virtual world in a

seamless manner. Once fully developed it has the potential to equip an individual with the ultimate source of information about the world around him
